Your Innuos system supports different operating modes to suit different music playback setups. The mode you choose determines how your music is managed and which software controls playback.
Innuos Standalone is the standard mode for users who want to manage their music and playback through the Sense app.
All other modes will disable the systems native Sense music library management and are designed for specific multiroom setups or users of Roon and HQPlayer.
Innuos Standalone
What it does: Runs your Innuos system as a complete music server and player, with Sense managing your music library, streaming services and playback.
Choose this mode if you want to use Sense as your main music management and playback app into your HiFi. This is also the mode for your main central library in a multiroom setup and is able to send music to Innuos Endpoints and other streamers that support Squeeze.
Recommended mode for most users.
Innuos Endpoint
What it does: Allows your system to act as a player controlled by another Innuos server or a compatible Logitech Media Server (LMS).
Choose this mode if you want to add your system to a multiroom setup managed by a central server, rather than operate it as an independent Sense system.
Roon Core
What it does: Runs Roon Core directly on your Innuos system, managing your music library and playback. Sense remains available for functions such as CD ripping, importing music and backups, but its native library management and playback functions are disabled.
Choose this mode if you want to run your Roon music system on your Innuos hardware without needing a separate computer or server to host Roon Core.
Note: Roon Core is only supported on compatible Innuos models.

Roon Bridge
What it does: Turns your Innuos system into a Roon endpoint, receiving music from an external Roon Core running elsewhere on your network.
Choose this mode if you want to use your Innuos system as a networked Roon endpoint for playback while keeping Roon Core on a separate computer or server.
Roon with Innuos Player (Experimental)
What it does: Combines Roon Core with the Innuos player for audio playback through directly connected outputs (such as USB DACs).
Choose this mode if you want to experiment with using the Innuos player within a Roon Core setup.
Important: This is an experimental mode supplied as-is, without guaranteed reliable operation. RAM-buffered playback is unavailable, and playback is limited to PCM up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD64. It is not intended as the default choice for everyday use.

HQ Player:
What it does: Configures your Innuos system as an ‘NAA’ network audio endpoint for an HQPlayer server running on another computer.
Choose this mode if you want to use HQPlayer to manage audio processing and playback, with your Innuos system receiving the audio stream.
HQPlayer Server cannot run directly on Innuos hardware.
Changing System Mode
- Open the Sense app and select your Innuos system.
- Navigate to System → Settings → System Mode.
- Select your preferred mode and save your changes.
- Allow the system to switch to the new mode before continuing.
Before switching: Check that the mode supports your intended setup and that any required external server is running and correctly configured.
