Backup To External USB Drive

You can back up your Sense library in two convenient ways: either directly to an external USB drive via one of your system’s USB ports or to a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. This article focuses on backing up to a USB drive specifically.

Backups not only securely preserve your system’s music library but also save your system’s database. This includes playlists you’ve created, tracks and albums you’ve favourited, and any metadata edits you’ve made.

1. Connect your external USB drive to the “Backup” USB port on your Innuos device, or alternatively, use any available USB port.

2. Open the Sense app and navigate to the “System” page. Once there select “Backup“.

3. Select “Configure Backup” then “USB Backup“.

4. Select “Set Up New Drive”.

5. Your USB drive should appear as an available option. If multiple drives are connected, select the specific drive you want to use for the backup, then click “Next.”

In order to use your as a new backup drive, we will need to format it. It will be completely erased and all data will be lost.

6. Once confirmed It will begin to format and prepare your USB drive ready to be used for a Backup. Please do not remove your drive until this process has finished.

7. Once its finished preparing your drive you will be taken back to the Backup page. From here you can perform a backup by selecting “Backup Now

8. After selecting “Backup Now” the Backup process will begin, once completed it will take you back to the Backup page where you can see that the USB Backup now mirrors your Library
