Sense App losing connection on mobile devices when switching from other Apps

The Sense App uses network connections to your server in order to send commands and receive results from the Innuos system. On mobile devices, and in order to reduce battery consumption, Android/iOS will normally place the apps to “sleep” in order to conserve power if they are not being used. This severes the network connection which needs to be re-established. This is normally quick but on some networks can take a few seconds.

The Innuos team is looking at ways to mitigate this issue but as a workaround, you can define on Android what level of battery you want an app to use and this may prevent this issues.

On Android (Samsung):

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Search for Innuos Sense. It should list Innuos Sense on the Apps card. Click on it.
  3. Click on Battery
  4. There are 3 options: Unrestricted, Optimised and Restricted. Please choose Unrestricted.

With this option, the network connections should be re-established very quickly. This may have an impact on your device battery usage though. One way to prevent this is closing the app completely when no longer needing to use it.
