Care Instructions for your Innuos System

In this article we’ll detail some of the key points to keep your system running most optimally.

Best Practices for Positioning and Ventilating your Innuos System

1. Ensure your Innuos system has adequate ventilation, as it relies on passive cooling. We suggest avoiding closed racks or placing it too close to other equipment.

2. Avoid stacking your Innuos system on top of other components whenever possible. This is especially important when placing it near or on top of devices such as power regenerators as not only do they run warm but if not properly shielded they can affect sensitive internal components and system performance on your Innuos system.

3. Please ensure your system is kept in its correct orientation. This is especially important if you are using an Innuos system with an integrated optical drive or HDD (hard disk drive), as improper positioning may affect its operation.

4. When placing your Innuos system on your rack, please take care to place it down, and do not drag/slide your system to avoid damaging the rubber feet.

Cleaning your System

1. Use a clean, soft, non bristled microfibre cloth to clean your InnuOS system and help prevent marks or scratches on the casing.

2. This is specific to users with Innuos systems featuring an integrated optical drive:

  • Firstly, we recommend you run a CD lens cleaning disc according to its instructions. This often solves most dust issues.
  • If the above does not solve your issue, then use short bursts of compressed air to blow dust out of the inside area of the drive. Keep the can upright and do not spray too close.

Operational Care

This section focuses on keeping your Innuos system running reliably and performing at its best during everyday use.

Daily use best practices

1. Allow the system to fully boot before opening the Sense app or starting playback.

2. Avoid frequently powering the system on and off. If not in use for short periods, leave it powered on.

3. Do not leave USB drives connected to your system when not actively being used for Imports/Backups USB drives can negatively affect sound quality in an audible way and system stability due to increase load.

4. When ripping CDs, please ensure you take a break every 5-10 CDs. This is to allow the drive to cool down and maintain optimal performance. If it overheats, you may encounter issues ripping with the disc not being recognised. Let it cool down and try again.

For users with an external USB optical drive, let it cool down, and then reconnect it before trying again.

5. Take care when ripping CDs on your Innuos System – You may encounter issues if you attempt to rip very thick CDs, CD inserted upside down, CD with Copy Protection as they may get stuck in the drive. If this occurs, please attempt to Force Eject the disc.
